Primary objective
Coordinate school canteen services to students and staff of nutritious and healthy food options to support school
attendance, engagement and aligned to the department’s ‘school nutrition and healthy eating’ policy, to support school
attendance, engagement, health and wellbeing, and to network with key stakeholders – students, staff, families, community
and professional associations.
Context statement
Clyde Fenton is a medium size school of approximately 150 students. The school is located in Katherine North, on Gorge
Road. Approximately 80% of students are Indigenous with some students living at Binjari, Rockhole and Kalano communities.
The school is open plan design. The work environment is characterised by extensive team work where intercultural
knowledge and skills are paramount.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate all aspects of school canteen operations including stocktaking, facilities cleanliness and equipment and food
hygiene.
2. Provide high level food services for students, staff, and customers through the provision of healthy food choices.
3. Supervise canteen staff and volunteers and organise the daily work programme
4. Ensure the school canteen complies with the NT Government’s School Nutrition and Healthy Eating Policy and
Guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability in working in a food service setting and stocktaking.
2. High level of communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
3. Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards and regulations.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the department’s School Nutrition and Healthy Eating policy and guidelines and supporting documents.
