Lead one of the Gold Coast's premier surf squad programs and help develop the next generation of surf athletes.
City Venue Management is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Surf Coach to lead the successful surf squad program at Miami Aquatic Centre.
Supporting athletes from junior surf lifesavers through to elite surf sports competitors, open water swimmers and triathletes, this is an exciting opportunity to shape athlete development within a high-performing and community-focused environment.
Working closely with Centre Management, athletes, families and the broader surf lifesaving community, you'll lead a program that inspires participation, performance and long-term success.
This role is available on either a casual or permanent part-time basis and involves coaching approximately 4–5 mornings per week.
What You'll Be Doing
As Head Surf Coach, you'll lead the planning, delivery and continued growth of our surf squad program while fostering a positive and high-performance culture.
Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and developing the Miami Aquatic Centre Surf Squad program

Coaching athletes from junior surf lifesavers through to elite surf sports competitors, open water swimmers and triathletes

Designing and delivering structured training programs using sound periodisation principles

Monitoring athlete performance and providing individual coaching and feedback

Building strong relationships with athletes, parents and local surf lifesaving clubs

Working collaboratively with Centre Management and the wider Rackley Swim coaching network

Supporting athlete progression and long-term participation in surf lifesaving and open water competition

Attending competitions, carnivals and key events as required
About You
You're an experienced coach who is passionate about developing athletes, creating a positive team culture and delivering high-quality coaching programs.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

Experience coaching competitive surf lifesaving, open water swimmers and/or performance swimming squads

Strong knowledge of athlete development, training periodisation and performance planning

Experience coaching athletes from junior development through to elite competition

Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills

The ability to motivate athletes while fostering an inclusive and high-performance environment

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

Relevant Swimming Australia and/or Surf Life Saving coaching accreditation

Current CPR Certificate

Current First Aid Certificate

Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)

Current Lifeguard Qualification (or willingness to obtain)

Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
