THAI ON RUTHVEN is a well-established and highly regarded Thai restaurant located in Toowoomba, Queensland. We are committed to delivering authentic Thai cuisine, exceptional customer service, and a memorable dining experience. Due to ongoing business growth and increasing operational demands, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to oversee the daily operations of our restaurant and takeaway business.
This is a genuine full-time position available to Australian citizens and permanent residents, and applications from suitably qualified local candidates are strongly encouraged.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing and coordinating the overall operations of the business, including:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and takeaway service.
- Planning and implementing sales, marketing and promotional strategies to maximise business performance.
- Monitoring revenue, expenses and operational budgets to achieve financial targets.
- Maintaining optimal stock levels and coordinating purchasing of food, beverages, packaging and other supplies.
- Managing inventory systems and conducting regular stock control and stocktake activities.
- Recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating staff performance.
- Preparing employee rosters and ensuring adequate staffing levels during peak trading periods.
- Ensuring exceptional customer service standards and resolving customer complaints and feedback professionally.
- Monitoring compliance with workplace health and safety, food safety and licensing requirements.
- Managing point-of-sale systems, cash handling procedures and daily financial reconciliations.
- Developing and implementing operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Analysing sales performance and preparing reports for business management.
- Liaising with suppliers and negotiating purchasing arrangements where required.
Skills and Experience Required
To be considered for this position, applicants should possess:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in retail, hospitality or restaurant management; OR
- A relevant Diploma or higher qualification together with at least 1 year of relevant management experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing staff, budgets and daily business operations.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Experience in stock control, purchasing and inventory management.
- Sound understanding of customer service principles and complaint resolution.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety and food safety compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and basic business reporting.
