The opportunity
As our Drainage Maintenance Officer, you’ll help keep the municipality’s drainage network safe, functional and reliable. Working outdoors as part of the Civil Maintenance team, you’ll undertake proactive and reactive drain cleaning, inspect worksites, replace pit lids, identify defects and safely operate specialised plant and equipment. This is a practical, community focused role where your work will help reduce flooding risks and maintain essential Council infrastructure.
What you’ll do
- Undertake proactive and reactive drain cleaning activities
- Safely operate trucks, plant and specialised drainage equipment
- Install and replace damaged drainage pit lids
- Inspect assets and report defects, hazards and maintenance needs
- Maintain tools and equipment and follow safe work procedures
What you need to succeed
- Drainage maintenance training or equivalent practical experience
- Experience maintaining and safely operating plant and equipment
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety and manual handling practices
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative, reliable approach

Pre-Employment Requirements
Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check & a Pre-Employment Medical Check. Candidates must also hold a valid Victorian Driver's License, and a Heavy or Medium Rigid licence.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa with full unrestricted working rights. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
