Sonacare is a specialist gynaecology and pelvic ultrasound practice in Harrington Park, providing high-quality gynaecological care and specialist pelvic ultrasound for women of all ages.
We are seeking a warm, reliable and highly organised Medical Receptionist to join our practice as soon as possible.
This is a casual position working 2 regular weekdays per week, with the possibility of occasional additional shifts to cover staff leave if mutually suitable.
Previous experience as a medical receptionist, particularly within a specialist or private medical practice, is preferred. Training in Sonacare’s systems and practice procedures will be provided.

Previous experience with Medicare billing is highly desirable.
Experience with Gentu practice management software is desirable but not essential.
Experience within specialist medical rooms, gynaecology, women's health, radiology or another specialist practice would also be highly regarded.
Tasks and responsibilities
Duties will include:
- Opening and closing the practice
- Greeting patients and managing reception
- Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries
- Booking specialist consultations, follow-up appointments and ultrasound examinations
- Checking GP and specialist referrals
- Processing Medicare claims
- Taking patient payments and processing EFTPOS transactions
- Providing invoices and receipts
- Preparing and sending theatre lists and relevant documentation to hospitals
- Communicating with hospitals, referring doctors and other medical practices
- Managing appointment changes and cancellations
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Maintaining accurate patient records
- Filing, scanning and sending letters and reports
- Restocking and monitoring office supplies
- Assisting with equipment cleaning/sterilisation as required
- Keeping the reception area and consulting rooms tidy and organised
- General medical reception and administrative duties
