About the Opportunity
Are you a top-tier Plant Mechanic who enjoys autonomy, problem-solving and working directly with customers? WesTrac is seeking experienced Field Service Plant Mechanics to join our elite Hunter Valley Field Service team, supporting some of the largest mining operations in the region.

Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, you’ll travel between customer sites, diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and provide expert support on Caterpillar machinery - all while keeping safety front of mind. If you enjoy working independently, thinking on your feet, and taking pride in delivering fast, reliable solutions, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar mobile plant equipment
Respond to breakdowns and deliver effective field-based maintenance solutions
Conduct planned maintenance and component replacements
Provide expert technical support and advice to customers
Complete service documentation accurately and efficiently
Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and customer service
Build strong working relationships across customer operations and maintenance teams
Skills & Experience
Essential
Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology + Certificate of Proficiency (Trade Qualification)
Strong Caterpillar equipment knowledge
Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy mining equipment
Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding capability
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Strong communication and customer-facing skills
A proactive approach to safety and problem-solving
Highly Regarded
Extensive field service experience
Experience supporting open-cut mining operations
Strong troubleshooting skills under pressure
Ability to work independently while delivering exceptional customer outcomes
