Your New Role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Officer to support the delivery of critical water, wastewater, and waste management infrastructure projects across our community.
Working closely with Project Managers, you will assist in the planning, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of a diverse portfolio of capital works projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to essential infrastructure that supports sustainable service delivery while developing your project management and technical expertise.
You will play a key role in project administration, contractor monitoring, grant reporting, inspections, and stakeholder engagement, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assist with the delivery of water, wastewater, and waste management capital projects.
- Draft project documentation including specifications, tender documents, project plans, and reports.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare project status reports and performance updates.
- Assist with grant applications, reporting requirements, and acquittals.
- Maintain project databases, records, spreadsheets, and reporting systems.
- Collect, analyse, and report project-related data.
- Respond to customer enquiries and service requests.
- Assist in identifying, documenting, and managing project risks.
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, environmental requirements, work health and safety obligations, and relevant legislation.

About You:
You are a proactive and organised professional with experience in infrastructure, civil construction, water and wastewater operations, or project delivery environments. You have strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with contractors, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
You enjoy problem-solving, are committed to delivering quality outcomes, and can effectively balance competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and safety.
Your technical knowledge, project coordination skills, and ability to build productive working relationships will enable you to contribute to the successful delivery of important infrastructure projects that benefit the community.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline, and/or extensive relevant industry experience.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Project Management or equivalent experience.
- Confined Space Entry certification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- First Aid qualification.
- Working Safely Near Live Electrical Apparatus accreditation.
- Work Permit Issuer qualification.
- Experience with hydraulic pumps and pipe systems.
- Fluoride Awareness certification.
- Liquefied Chlorine Monitoring and Operations Awareness.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
