We are seeking an Assistant Commercial Accountant to join our Business & Industry (B&I) sector in North Sydney. Reporting to the Associate Business Partner, you will play a key role in delivering commercial and financial support across a diverse portfolio.
This role is ideal for a commercially minded accountant looking to build on their financial analysis, reporting and stakeholder management experience within a large and dynamic organisation. There is a strong possibility for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.
- Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries and P&L analysis
- Prepare and distribute monthly management reports and financial insights
- Partner with operational and business stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve financial performance
- Manage invoicing processes, payment follow-ups and contract-related queries
- Prepare contract price escalations and contractual variations
- Maintain contract databases and ensure information accuracy
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Support quarterly business reviews (QBRs) and ad hoc commercial analysis
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across commercial processes
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Currently studying towards or completed CA/CPA qualifications
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a commercial accounting environment
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
- Positive, proactive and team-oriented approach
Desirable:
- Experience using Oracle accounting systems
- Previous experience within a large corporate environment
- Work with a supportive and collaborative finance team
