Cleaning Melbourne is a well-established commercial cleaning business delivering services to councils and public facilities across Victoria. We are looking for an experienced Area Supervisor – Night Operations to lead our night cleaning team across sites located in Malvern, Prahran
This is a hands-on frontline leadership role. You'll be responsible for training staff, conducting inspections and audits, managing equipment, and ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery across multiple council-managed sites – all during night shift hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage all night cleaning staff across sites, including rostering and scheduling
- Train and induct cleaning staff in site-specific procedures, chemical use, equipment operation, and safety requirements
- Conduct routine site inspections and quality audits; submit timely, accurate reports to the Area Manager
- Respond to customer requests, complaints, and reactive cleaning requirements promptly and professionally
- Maintain cleaner's storerooms, conduct stocktakes, and reorder consumables and chemicals as required
- Inspect and report on cleaning equipment condition; ensure all equipment is fit for use
- Ensure all staff comply with PPE requirements, safe work practices, and council site-specific safety requirements
- Conduct periodic toolbox meetings reinforcing safety, quality standards, and environmental obligations
- Undertake performance coaching and reviews to address issues and drive continuous improvement
- Step in to perform cleaning duties to support staff coverage when needed
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a commercial cleaning supervisory or team leadership role
- Experience managing night shift or after-hours cleaning operations (highly desirable)
- Exposure to multi-site contract cleaning is an advantage
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and develop cleaning staff
- Ability to conduct site inspections, quality audits, and produce clear written reports
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and safe work practices in a cleaning environment
- Hands-on experience with commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – able to liaise with both staff and council representatives
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during night shift hours
- Current driver's licence (preferred)
Qualifications
- Certificate III in Cleaning Operations (or similar) – desirable
- Current Working with Children Check and/or Police Check may be required by client
Pay: $32.00 – $35.00 per hour
