We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team based in Perth.
You will bring structural engineering expertise to Worley and its customers, working across projects for multiple major clients in the mining and heavy industry sectors. This is a hands-on, client-facing role that combines high-quality industrial structural design with regular site attendance (Huntly Mine initially), condition assessment and direct engagement with our customers on their operating assets.
Your skills will include strong technical design experience in industrial structures, along with the confidence and communication ability to represent Worley on client sites, understand operational constraints first-hand, and translate site findings into practical, compliant engineering solutions. You will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers within the discipline.
Responsibilities
- Deliver structural engineering services in compliance with client, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Undertake concept, FEED and detailed design of industrial steel and concrete structures across greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Prepare engineering studies, analyses, calculations and technical deliverables in accordance with relevant Australian Standards.
- Review and check engineering work completed by local and workshare teams.
- Support procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Conduct structural inspections, condition assessments and integrity reviews of operating assets across Western Australia.
- Engage directly with clients and site personnel to understand operational requirements and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Provide onsite support during shutdowns, outages and remediation works.
- Build strong client relationships and support effective stakeholder communication.
- Provide technical leadership, supervision and guidance to project and discipline teams.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary and global teams to support successful project delivery.
- Mentor junior and graduate engineers.
- Participate in project meetings, reporting and management system processes.
- Manage scope changes and contribute to proposals, estimates and bid documentation.

- Bachelor of Engineering (Structural or Civil) or a relevant equivalent degree.
- 8+ years' experience in structural engineering design, with demonstrated proficiency in the design of industrial structures.
- Proven prior experience across both the mining and heavy industry sectors.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to attend client sites and liaise directly with customers, including in operating industrial environments.
- Sound knowledge of applicable Australian Standards (AS 4100, AS 3600, AS/NZS 1170 series) as well as statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with structural analysis and 3D modelling / drafting packages, and an understanding of how structural drafters perform their duties.
- Demonstrated experience with Space Gass structural analysis software.
- Experience with a finite element analysis (FEA) software package such as Strand7.
- Prior experience with structural inspection and reporting, including asset integrity assessment of operating industrial assets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage conflicting priorities effectively.
- Experience with brownfield projects, shutdowns and structural integrity / audit programs.
- Exposure to WA-based mining and resources clients and remote / regional site work.
