About the role
The Health Practitioner Trainee performs a range of clinical support activities and on the job skills development while engaged in formal tertiary studies necessary to acquire the relevant entry level qualification (mandatory) for employment as a Health Practitioner in Queensland.
A Health Practitioner Trainee will deliver allocated clinical activities for which they have been trained and assessed as competent. Clinical activities will be allocated under the direction and supervision of a Health Practitioner. Duties may also include a range of non-clinical activities.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
Work within a scope of practice that is commensurate with the level of knowledge and skill development of current tertiary studies (previously assessed as being competent in).
Under direction and supervision, perform a defined range of clinical assessment and treatment tasks within the scope of practice as allocated by the supervising Dietitians in accordance with Department work unit guidelines, professional and ethical standards and relevant Queensland Health policies.
Clarify directions that are unclear and refuse the allocation of clinical activities not yet competent in.
Under the supervision of the Dietitians, initiate changes to treatment programs using results from standardised assessments, decision support tools, clinical pathways and/or patient guidelines.
Provide education to patients and their families on a defined range of topics.
