Role Description:
The Project Manager will effectively engage stakeholders, lead a project team (may be matrixed) and manage sub-contractors/ consultants to achieve the required outcomes for straightforward to complicated small projects or a collection of discrete tasks with defined scope and of sufficient scale to require the application of Project Management within the cost, schedule and quality constraints while managing risk and opportunity. The Project Manager position requires the application of Project Management disciplines in accordance with the BAE Systems Australia Project Management framework.
Core Duties:
- Delivery of works following Project Management policies and processes in line with BAE Systems Australia’s Operational Framework
- Foster a positive collaborative culture between the key project stakeholders and the project team including the customer, sub-contractors and suppliers
- Ensure all project requirements and/ or objectives are properly documented in a business case and/or project brief, as appropriate and vigorously pursued
- Establish appropriate key success indicators and recommend trade-offs between scope, quality, time and cost
- Ensure that products and services delivered as part of a project are in accordance with the Product Safety Policy and provide customer satisfaction
- Complete all closure and wrap-up activities upon project completion including lessons learnt
- Identifying and implementing Value for Money (VFM) initiatives that improve project outcomes for the company and customers
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in a project or business management role
- Understanding and experience in Earn Value Management
- Ability to work closely within teams and collaborate planning and reporting requirements
- Demonstrated experience working with JIRA and Confluence is required.
- Previous role in engineering/hardware, software preferred but not required
- Experience co-ordinating cross-functional teams while managing sub-contractors, consultants and other suppliers

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief, and rescue operations.
