Short Order Cook / Chef (Casual) – Alkemist, Broadbeach Waters
Alkemist Cafe is looking for an experienced Short Order Cook / Chef to join our busy kitchen team.
This position is ideal for someone looking for approximately 20 hours per week (flexible between 15–30 hours depending on availability and business needs). It would also suit someone who already has a second job and is looking for extra hours, particularly if you work evenings or nights.
Availability Required:
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- Must be available to work weekends
- Availability on Thursdays and Fridays is highly preferred
- Weekend shifts are typically 4–6 hours
About You:
- Previous experience as a short order cook, breakfast chef, or café chef
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Experience with breakfast service and café-style cooking
- Can multitask and work across different kitchen sections
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
What You'll Be Doing:
- Preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch menu items
- Assisting with prep work and maintaining kitchen organisation
- Keeping a clean and efficient workstation
- Supporting the team during busy service periods
- Working collaboratively with our kitchen staff to deliver high-quality food consistently
