Powerhouse Museum is located at the intersection of arts, design, science, and technology and plays a critical role in engaging communities with contemporary ideas and issues. It is the custodian of more than half a million objects of national and international significance and is considered one of the finest and most diverse collections in Australia. We are undertaking a landmark $1.3 billion infrastructure renewal program, led by the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta; expanded research and public facilities at Powerhouse Castle Hill; the heritage revitalisation of the iconic Powerhouse Ultimo; and the ongoing operation of Sydney Observatory.
Temporary, full time, up to 4 years
Powerhouse is seeking an organised and hands-on Assistant Registrar to support the safe storage, movement, transport and accessibility of collection objects across our sites.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in storage, warehousing, logistics, inventory management or collection storage environments who are confident coordinating object movements, maintaining accurate location records, and working within structured operational processes.
Working as part of the Collection Storage and Logistics team, you will assist with storage consolidation projects, object relocations, inventory control, transport preparation, and collection access activities while ensuring high standards of collection care, safety and compliance.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:

Experience working in a storage, logistics, warehousing or inventory-controlled environment.

Strong attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate inventory or asset records.

Experience coordinating the movement, handling or tracking of valuable, sensitive or complex items.

The ability to prioritise competing tasks and work effectively across multiple sites and stakeholders.

A current driver's licence (essential).
