What you will be doing
You will lead the staffing function for a hub supporting one or more electoral districts. Hubs are central field-based sites that coordinate staffing, logistics, resources and operational support during an election. The Staffing Lead plays a critical role in ensuring election activities are appropriately staffed and ready to operate.
You do not need previous election experience. We will train you on electoral processes and systems. We are looking for someone who can lead a team, manage competing priorities and coordinate staffing activities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Day to day, you will:
- Lead a small staffing team supporting election operations across multiple districts
- Coordinate the recruitment, appointment and onboarding of election staff
- Oversee staffing allocations and rostering to ensure election activities are appropriately resourced
- Monitor staffing progress and workforce readiness to meet operational deadlines
- Support election managers with staffing requirements and workforce planning
- Manage timesheet processes, staffing records and workforce reporting
- Act as the local escalation point for staffing-related issues
- Support supervisors in managing performance, attendance and staffing concerns
- Work closely with hub teams and head office to ensure staffing milestones are achieved
During a state election, workforce requirements change quickly. You will play a key role in building and supporting a large election workforce, helping ensure voting centres, early voting centres and election activities are staffed and ready to deliver for Victorian voters.
What you will bring to the role
- Experience recruiting, rostering or coordinating a workforce in a high-volume operational environment
- Experience leading, coaching and supporting staff to achieve team outcomes
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Experience working with workforce data, staffing records or timesheet processes
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Sound judgement and the ability to manage sensitive staffing matters professionally and confidentially
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records
- The ability to identify issues early and take action to resolve or escalate them appropriately
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and learning new systems
- A collaborative and solutions-focused approach to working with others
No two days are the same. As a member of the hub management team, you will help solve workforce challenges, support operational delivery and ensure election activities have the people they need to succeed.
This role involves working with computers for extended periods, moving between different areas of a hub environment, and working extended or irregular hours during peak election period
