An exciting opportunity to join the medical team in the Rehabilitation Department at our hospital, is waiting for you! As a rehabilitation medicine registrar, you will contribute to the provision of rehabilitation and medical care to clients undergoing rehabilitation in a variety of conditions and settings. You will assess the clients, analyze all clinical diagnostic data, administer relevant medical care and develop rehabilitation plans for your clients. You will provide detailed written reports and maintain up to date information in the clinical files as a record of intervention.

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is a major metropolitan teaching hospital. Patients can access a range of services including coronary care, intensive care, orthopaedics, general medicine, surgical, obstetric, respiratory, rehabilitation, paediatric, maternity and emergency care. The hospital also provides a wide range of outpatient services including allied health, dental and podiatry clinics, child, adolescent and family health, drug and alcohol, health promotion and rehabilitation and aged care. An acute mental health service is co-located at Hornsby Hospital. The new $265 million Stage 2 redevelopment was officially opened in June 2022.

What you'll be doing
The aim of Advanced training in Rehabilitation Medicine is to gain learning and experience in general and specialised terms, utilising evidenced based rehabilitation medicine principles, with the goal to progress through the AFRM Training program towards obtaining Fellowship.
The Advanced Trainee is to perform comprehensive rehabilitation assessments, make treatment decisions, perform procedures, maintain adequate medical records, and develop expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment. The Advanced trainee will supervise general medical management of patients admitted/referred to the Department of Rehabilitation and build an integrated care plan with interdisciplinary teams and the department to achieve best patient outcome.
Advanced trainees are expected to participate in consultative and outpatient services in a variety of ambulatory care settings which may include hospital facilities and private consulting rooms.
Close supervision and liaison with consultants will allow the Advanced Trainee to demonstrate their level of ability and understanding of patient care and enable individual expansion of clinical responsibility. All patients managed within the hospitals of the health service are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding their care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.
