The Paediatric Nuclear Medicine Trainee position is available at The Children's Hospital at Westmead for the 2027 Clinical Year, from 01 February 2027 to 06 February 2028.
The Trainee will:
1. Provide effective service to paediatric patients with increasing autonomy, while developing expertise in nuclear medicine practice, in a complex clinical environment.
2. Assist in ensuring that the service provided to patients and their families in New South Wales and beyond is of the highest quality, sustainable, flexible and transparent.
3. Develop clinical proficiency in the care of children with complex health problems.
The Department of Nuclear Medicine is an accredited department for 12 months for training in Paediatric Nuclear Medicine by the Australia and New Zealand Association of Physicians in Nuclear Medicine. The position enables the applicant to gain experience in paediatric nuclear medicine in all areas ranging from in-vivo techniques, general paediatric nuclear medicine studies, paediatric PET studies, bone mineral density and correlation with other medical imaging modalities. The Trainee is exposed to technical areas of nuclear medicine and radio-pharmacy. The Trainee is supervised by accredited physicians in nuclear medicine with particular expertise in paediatric nuclear medicine.

Position Description
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- At least three years post graduate experience
- Demonstrated highly developed communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated high standard of patient care
- Demonstrated understanding of research methodology and research experience
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and a willingness to participate in teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff
