Your key responsibilities:
Manage and lead the development, delivery and evaluation of strategic policy and statewide and/or complex projects that are evidence informed and consistent with relevant national and state policy directions, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health alcohol and other drugs services.
Provide strategic advice and guidance to stakeholders and senior management on specific issues associated with the needs and interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families and communities regarding social and emotional wellbeing and mental health alcohol and other drugs services.
Drive complex projects with a focus on workforce responses that increase the capacity and capability of state-funded mental health, alcohol and other drug services to engage with and respond to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families and communities.
Role fit
The First Nations MHAOD team has a primary focus on mental health strategy, policy and projects for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people across all ages and all areas of MHAOD service delivery.
In this role you will be valued for strong writing skills and experience in preparing policy or planning materials for a range of audiences. Your communication skills will be exceptional, and you will have a demonstrated ability to negotiate with, and influence, stakeholders to achieve high-quality outcomes. You will have a proven track record in analysing and interpreting data and translating it into well-informed health planning, policy or strategy. You will contribute to multiple areas of work, under the broad direction of your Director and the Branch Executive.
The essential requirements for this role are:
High level and demonstrated policy, planning and project leadership and management skills, preferably in a health or other intersecting portfolio environment.
Demonstrated ability to formulate and communicate strategic advice, preferably in a health or other intersecting portfolio environment.
High level and demonstrated interpersonal skills in negotiation, influencing, advocacy, communication, consultation and harnessing the collective efforts of diverse stakeholders at strategic and operational levels, including health professionals, government agencies and non-government organisations.
