Behaviour Support Technician / Disability Support Worker
We are looking for a disability support worker with an interest and/or qualification in behaviour support or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to join the team of therapists and carers working with our son and daughter, who are energetic 21-year old with multiple disabilities including Autism.
Preference will be given to someone living locally. We live in Turramurra an 8-minute walk from the Turramurra train station on the North Shore train line. There is also a regular bus services and we are within easy commute from Macquarie University. The rate of pay will depend on experience (approximately $31-$36 per hour on weekdays and approximately $69-$91 per hour on Public Holidays).
Work hours are: 2x2-2 hour sessions on weekdays from 4-6pm. Training is initially done on Thursdays or Fridays 4-6pm or Saturdays from 1-5 and should last for the first 6-8 weeks.
The technician must also be available to attend a group meeting one Thursday every month between 1.30 – 3.00 pm that will be set one month in advance.
The contract is ideally suited for a psychology, occupational therapy, speech therapy or special education student who wishes to gain experience in working with adults with special needs, including Autism and who is able to commit for at least 12 months. Valuable supervision will be provided on an ongoing basis by some of the most experienced behaviour support providers in NSW. There is also a speech therapist with experience in Augmentative Communication on the team to provide supervision.
Positions are to commence mid July 2026. Preference will be given to experienced therapists that have completed training courses but we will also be very interested in interviewing candidates who do not have any experience and is new to behaviour support/ ABA and who are willing to complete online training courses such as that offered by Super Kids Behavioural Consulting.
