Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in a varied and hands-on role. This is a fantastic opportunity for an accounting professional who is ready to build their career in a well-established and fast-paced organisation, gaining exposure to financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and month-end processes across multiple entities. Working closely with an experienced team and reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you will play an important role in supporting financial operations and contributing to accurate and timely reporting. This full time position is based in our Brisbane CBD office and requires regular on-site attendance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Play a key role in preparing monthly management accounts across the Group's portfolio of entities
- Prepare journals, manage prepayments, and assist with fixed asset administration
- Manage group bank reconciliations, proactively investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Assist with the preparation and submission of BAS statements
- Contribute to month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, budgets, and forecasts
- Provide support with statutory accounts, audit requests, and Fringe Benefits Tax processes
- Work closely with the Accounting team to respond to internal finance queries and support broader team goals
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years’ experience in a related accounting role
- Knowledge of GST and BAS obligations
- Experience in a structured finance environment with exposure to compliance and regulatory requirements
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a collaborative approach
Desirable:
- Currently studying towards or holding a CPA or CA qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
- Experience working across multi-entity group structures
