About the role
In a busy world, this vital role creates space for people to become still, to breathe deeply, reflect and connect. Then, having been seen, respected and supported to move through their day empowered and connected to what sustains them spiritually.
Fundamental to the spiritual care services and partnering with our incredible team to promote and support the integral importance of spirituality to a person’s wellbeing, this vital position focuses on meeting the spiritual, religious and emotional needs of residents, families and staff. With deep respect and authentic curiosity embracing spiritual, cultural and religious diversity this role models Mercy Care’s Mission Ethos, Values and Ethics. This position is on a 4 day a week basis, working 2 days at our Rockingham Residential Aged Care facility, and 2 days at our Kelmscott facility.
About you
You’ll have a vibrant and active spirituality to both ground you and drive your engagement and support of others. You’ll have a strong understanding and commitment to the spiritual care needs of the elderly, their friends and families, along with experience with the life processes of grief, dying and death including Catholic practice and tradition. You’ll be looking to join a caring, diverse and passionate team and your key experience will include:
- The ability to create and lead spiritual reflection, embrace diversity and work across religious and spiritual traditions
- Assessment and care planning including the use of online care management systems
- The ability to coordinate a diverse team with great relationship building, interpersonal skills and emotional maturity
- Foundational counselling and group work skills with excellent communication skills across verbal, written and digital mediums
- A solid understanding of the spiritual care needs of the elderly and their families, particularly in the context of grief, dying, and death.
- Excellent administrative, computer, planning and organisational skills
- National Police Clearance (obtained within the last six months)
