As Senior Gateway and Network Engineer, your key responsibilities will be:
Respond to complex gateway and network related incidents, implement changes and maintain the effective security and operations of gateway and network technologies with the Parliamentary ICT Networks.
Ensure the ongoing operations of complex gateway protocols, routing and networking connectivity.
Lead complex gateway and network engineering tasks, contribute to architecture decisions and ensure the sustainment and maintenance of the secure internet gateway.
Involved in driving forward planning and architecture, evaluate new technologies to determine suitability to solving business needs, ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place.
Ensure system availability and uptime, accountable for continuous improvement and innovation to enhance the service delivery experience.
Detailed knowledge of the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) Information Security Manual (ISM)controls, Essential 8, Protective Security Principles Framework (PSPF) and best practise secure technical implementation in cloud, network and gateway capabilities.
Broad understanding of cyber security systems, including endpoint detection, security information and event management (SIEM), vulnerability detection and management and cyber threat intelligence capabilities.
Highly Desirable:
Minimum 6 years' experience in secure enterprise network engineering across firewalls, switching, VPNs, NAC, observability, and automation.
High level of knowledge of emerging network security technologies and practices, including Zero Trust, micro‑segmentation, secure remote access, and cloud‑integrated network security.
Industry certifications such as CCNP/CCIE (Enterprise or Security), Fortinet NSE4/5/7, are highly desirable.
Experience engineering and supporting Aruba/HPE or similar switching platforms across campus and data centre environments, are highly desirable.
Job Specific Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.
