About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to oversee the day-to-day operations of our kitchen. This is a key position responsible for maintaining the high standards of food quality, consistency, and service that our customers expect. The successful candidate will bring strong culinary expertise, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work in a productive kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and supervise food preparation and cooking activities across all service periods.
- Design and develop menu offerings that reflect authentic Chinese cuisine while incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff to ensure high standards of performance and professionalism.
- Manage inventory, stock control, supplier ordering, and food cost management.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, HACCP requirements, workplace health and safety standards, and hygiene practices.
- Maintain consistent quality, presentation, and portion control across all menu items.
- Work collaboratively with restaurant management to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
- Prepare staff rosters and allocate duties to maximise productivity and service efficiency.
- Monitor kitchen equipment and coordinate maintenance requirements where necessary.
Skills & Experience
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Cook in a busy restaurant or commercial kitchen.
- Experience preparing authentic Chinese cuisine is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, team management, and organisational skills.
- Thorough understanding of food safety standards and kitchen management practices.
- Proven ability to manage food costs and minimise wastage while maintaining quality.
- Creativity and passion for menu development and food presentation.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays as required.
