The Sessional Lecturer at Trinity College Queensland is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences in theology, ministry, and related disciplines. This role involves preparing and delivering lectures and assessing student work. The Sessional Lecturer will contribute to the academic community by fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Key responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
Prepare and deliver Inquiry Based Learning (IBL)lectures, and seminars in assigned unit.
Develop and update course materials, including syllabi, reading lists, and assessment tasks.
Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assessments.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
Model the values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod in day-to-day work including interactions with managers, lay staff, ministry agents, clients and stakeholders.
Compliance with Queensland Synod policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
Comply with Health and Safety directions and Public Health directions.
Undertake other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent.
Student Support:
- Offer academic support and guidance to students.
- Maintain regular office hours for student consultations.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Administrative Duties:
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation on our learning management system Moodle.
- Adhere to college policies and procedures.
Key performance indicators:
Academic administration is done by due date as discussed with Academic Dean.
Moodle (LMS) is maintained.
Student marking is completed within the 2-week turnaround.
Maintain alignment with the Office of Synod purpose, culture and values (values referenced under additional requirements).
Renumeration:
Preparation 10 hours at marking/ academic administration rate for setting up unit (UQAF, Unit guide, Moodle prep)
Higher Education Award Rate for teaching hours (24 teaching hours and 12 hours of teacher directed learning).
Marking rate 1 hour per student.
A Postgraduate degree in theology, ministry, or a related field (PhD preferred).
Demonstrate experience in teaching at the tertiary level.
Commitment to the mission and values of Trinity College Queensland.
Experience in online and blended learning environments.
Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.
Active involvement in scholarly research and professional development.
The successful applicant must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be requested and have a current Blue Card.
