About the Role
We are seeking a Casual Dari Speaking Support Worker to join our team at Action on Disability within Ethnic Communities Inc (ADEC) in Frankston, VIC. In this role, you will provide in-home support and assistance to clients from the Dari community, helping them maintain their independence and achieve their personal goals.
Work location: Frankston, Victoria 3199.
Workdays & Times:
- Personal Care duties: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
- Respite Care duties: Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays (3 hours each day).
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide companionship and engage in activities to promote client’s physical and mental well-being.
- Assist with personal care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Prepare and serve meals, ensuring any dietary restrictions are considered.
- Help with mobility, such as transferring from a bed to a wheelchair, and assist with physical exercises if required.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping for groceries.
- Communicate with family caregivers about the client’s condition, any changes, and any concerns that may arise.
- Ensure a safe environment and handle emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
- Maintain detailed client records and documentation in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the broader support team to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
- Certificate III in Individual Support and experience ideally in the home care environment
- Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Hold a valid and current licence to drive a motor vehicle, issued by the appropriate authority in the jurisdiction in which the holder will drive, and an insured vehicle to be drive.
- Ability to work without direct supervision, within guidelines and procedures.
- Excellent time management and task planning skills.
- Previous experience of working with carers from ethnic communities.
- Second language: Dari
