We are a small, customer-focused café dedicated to serving high-quality coffee and fresh, delicious food in a welcoming environment. Our menu focuses on classic café favourites, fresh ingredients, and fast, consistent service. We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Casual Café Cook to join our team and help maintain our kitchen’s quality and efficiency.
This role is only casual and will be 10-20 hours a week. Must be available Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Role Overview
As a Casual Café Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items during service while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation. You’ll work closely with the front-of-house staff to ensure customers receive great food in a timely manner
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook café menu items such as breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and light lunch dishes
* Ensure food is prepared consistently according to recipes and presentation standards
* Assist with food prep including chopping, portioning, and ingredient preparation
* Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
* Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
* Monitor stock levels and communicate when ingredients need restocking
* Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
* Work efficiently during busy service periods
* Support the team with general kitchen duties including dishwashing when
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience as a cook, kitchen hand, or in a café kitchen preferred
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Requirements
* Minimum 3 years as a short order cook in a cafe
* Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
* Availability for weekend and morning shifts
* Ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen duties
* Right to work in Australia
