We are seeking an experienced Cabinet Maker / Joiner to join our team, working across a varied range of custom joinery, residential cabinetry and insurance-related projects throughout Melbourne.
This is not purely repetitive kitchen manufacturing. Our work varies considerably from project to project, so we are looking for someone with strong cabinet-making fundamentals who can think through a job, solve problems and work independently when required.
The Role
Your work will include:
- Manufacturing custom cabinetry and architectural joinery
- Kitchens, laundries, wardrobes, vanities, entertainment units, home offices and other bespoke cabinetry
- High-end residential and custom projects
- Insurance repair and reinstatement work
- Working with curved and angled cabinetry
- Laminating and manufacturing custom components
- Reading plans, drawings and specifications
- Understanding and producing cutting lists
- Accurately setting out and assembling cabinetry
- Installing cabinetry and joinery on site
- Installing drawer systems, hinges, runners and other cabinet hardware
- Working with a variety of board products, laminates and finishes
- Modifying and problem-solving existing cabinetry where required
- Working independently as well as part of a small team
What We Are Looking For
The successful applicant should:
- Be an experienced cabinet maker or joiner
- Have strong practical manufacturing and installation skills
- Be confident reading plans and understanding dimensions
- Be able to create and work from cutting lists
- Have experience with cabinet hardware and fittings
- Be comfortable working with curves, angles and non-standard cabinetry
- Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Be capable of working unsupervised
- Be able to identify and resolve problems rather than simply stop when something unexpected occurs
- Take pride in producing a high-quality finished product
- Be reliable, organised and able to communicate effectively with the team
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
Our projects range from straightforward cabinetry through to detailed custom work, so versatility and practical problem-solving ability are important.
Trial
Suitable applicants will initially be invited to undertake a paid 3-day trial. This gives both parties an opportunity to assess workmanship, speed, accuracy, problem-solving ability and whether the position is a good fit.
References will be required from suitable candidates.
We are looking for someone who can become a valuable long-term member of the team. For the right person who can work efficiently, accurately and with minimal supervision, there is scope for a strong ongoing position and remuneration reflecting their capability.
Pay: $29.23 – $50.15 per hour
Work Location: In person
