We are looking for a Sydney based, experienced R&D Tax Manager or Senior R&D Tax Manager to join our successful R&D tax team.

Our R&D tax team sits neatly as an extension of our Intellectual Property services, providing R&D tax advice to companies at the leading edge of science and technology.
Your New Role
An attractive opportunity for an experienced R&D Tax professional who enjoys combining technical rigour with commercial impact to join our highly regarded R&D Tax team.
We are looking for either an experienced R&D Tax manager or R&D Tax Senior manager and key responsibilities will vary based on the experience.
This is a full-time, ongoing role based in Sydney CBD, with flexibility to consider part-time arrangements (four days per week).
Your Key Responsibilities:
In this role, the R&D Tax Manager/Senior R&D Tax Manager will be expected to:
- Manage the end-to-end R&D Tax compliance cycle, including:
- Conducting client meetings, relationship management, and ongoing correspondence
- Drafting high-quality documentation, including technical reports
- Performing eligible expenditure calculations, including recoupment calculations
- Providing legislative reasoning and practical advice
- Preparation of R&D applications and R&D Tax schedules
- Work with the R&D Tax Partner and the FB Rice Business Development team to grow and strengthen the R&D Tax consulting practice, including:
- Contribute to the group’s business development by identifying new client opportunities, attending networking events, and strengthening relationships with existing clients and referrers
- Partnering with the Business Development team to develop and enhance collateral such as website content, brochures, and related materials
- Provide management, delegation, and support to the R&D Tax team, including:
- Managing and mentoring junior team members
- Delegating work effectively and overseeing performance
- Supporting training and development in line with career plans
- Supporting recruitment activities as required
- Maintain timesheet entries of own work and work with the Finance team to generate tax invoices and follow up to support timely collection.
Your Training and Skills
To be successful in this role it is a requirement that you have:
- A degree in a relevant discipline such as Science, Engineering, or IT and comfort in technical discussions across a range of technical disciplines and industries
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in R&D Tax services depending on the role sought.
- Strong technical writing and analytical capability
- The ability to interpret and apply relevant tax legislation with confidence
- Strong leadership, client management, and collaborative team skills
- High attention to detail and the ability to deliver to deadlines
Experience: Desirable
- Commercial maturity and strong business acumen in client-facing roles
- Strong experience supporting IT or engineering R&D Tax claims
