The COMET GP Registrar provides high quality healthcare to people experiencing or at risk homelessness in the community. The COMET GP Registrar provides evidence-based healthcare, including wholistic assessment, brief intervention, care planning and referral on an outreach basis by the provision of outreach healthcare clinics in local homelessness services or by outreach street patrols. The COMET GP Registrar works closely with the Homeless Health Service multidisciplinary team, local stakeholders and community health services to ensure that clients are able to access mainstream and specialist healthcare, support and accommodation to improve their health and wellbeing outcomes.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide medical care and support, as part of a multidisciplinary team that is consistent with the level of clinical competency and experience of the appointed Trainee.
Medical Officers will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition.
Community Outreach Medical Emergency Team (COMET) St Vincent’s Hospital provides services to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness with complex health needs. We are seeking a doctor with a broad range of medical skills to work in an outreach setting. The successful applicant will be working closely with a community nurse to assess, treat and refer patients in the community via outreach patrols and health clinics held at various drop in centres within the City of Sydney Local Government Area. This position would suit a doctor considering a career in general practice. The position is accredited with RACGP as a GP Extended Skills post.
