Modern Viking is looking for a talented product photographer, videographer and content creator to become our long-term creative partner.
The role will begin with a paid product-content trial. We will ship the trial product directly to you.
If your work matches our brand and performs commercially, we want you to become our go-to creator for future product launches, website content, advertising campaigns, social media, email marketing and short-form video.
This is not a basic white-background eCommerce photography role.
We create premium, cinematic content that tells a story and makes our products feel handcrafted, masculine, gift-worthy and high-end.
About Modern Viking
Modern Viking is a growing Australian eCommerce brand selling handcrafted Viking-inspired drinkware, jewellery, knives, axes, collectibles and gifts.
We are building a reliable network of creative partners who can consistently produce content that elevates our products and helps sell them online.
About the Role
Products will be shipped directly to you to photograph and film from your own studio, home studio or suitable location.
You will help us create:
- Premium product photography
- Lifestyle and product-in-use photography
- TikToks, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts
- Paid advertising creatives
- Website product images and banners
- Product-launch content
- Email-marketing images and videos
- Behind-the-scenes and craftsmanship content
- Short product demonstrations and unboxing videos
- Creative concepts, shot lists and campaign ideas
The product must always remain the hero.
We are not looking for someone who simply takes attractive photographs. We want someone who understands lighting, styling, composition, storytelling, buyer psychology and how visual content increases perceived product value.

We want Viking-inspired content without making the products look cheap, theatrical or like costume props.
What You Will Do
- Receive Modern Viking products by post
- Develop creative concepts before each shoot
- Create mood boards and shot lists where required
- Film and edit short-form social content
- Shoot premium product and lifestyle photography
- Produce content suitable for paid advertising
- Create multiple formats for websites, Meta ads, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube
- Contribute ideas for locations, props, lighting, angles and storytelling
- Photograph craftsmanship, materials, dimensions and important product details
- Create strong opening hooks for short-form video
- Professionally edit, retouch and colour-grade completed content
- Deliver organised high-resolution and web-ready files
- Safely store and return products when requested
What We Are Looking For
You should be:
- Based in Australia
- Experienced in product photography and short-form video
- Comfortable filming and editing content yourself
- Confident using a professional camera, smartphone or both
- Fast and capable with software such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop or similar
- Able to produce strong product photography, not only portraits, weddings or events
- Able to photograph reflective metal, timber, leather, glass and detailed handcrafted products
- Able to source or create suitable backgrounds, locations and styling
- Creative, commercially minded and willing to contribute ideas
- Capable of following a brand brief while suggesting stronger creative opportunities
- Reliable with deadlines, file organisation and communication
- Comfortable safely handling products including knives, axes and other bladed items
Experience with eCommerce, paid advertising, graphic design or direct-response creative is highly regarded.
Equipment and Locations
You must provide:
- Suitable professional camera equipment
- Appropriate lenses
- Lighting equipment
- Video and audio equipment where required
- Professional editing software
- Access to suitable indoor, studio, outdoor or lifestyle locations
- Secure storage for products while they are in your possession
Modern Viking will provide the products, campaign brief and brand direction.
Any additional expenses involving models, specialist props, travel, paid locations or equipment hire must be approved before the shoot.
Paid Trial
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete a paid trial using the:

The product will be shipped directly to the selected creator.
Photography Deliverables
- One premium hero image
- One macro craftsmanship close-up
- One in-hand image showing product scale
- One product-in-use or pouring image
- One side-profile or display image
- One detailed rim and interior image
Video Deliverable
- One professionally filmed and edited 10–15 second product video suitable for the Modern Viking website, social media and paid advertising
The trial should make the product feel premium, desirable, handcrafted and gift-worthy.
Final files must include:
- High-resolution edited images
- Web-ready image exports
- Vertical social-media video
- A clean video version without permanent text overlays
- Agreed alternative crops or formats
- Full agreed commercial usage rights for Modern Viking
The trial price, timeline, shipping arrangements and exact scope will be agreed before the product is sent.
Products must not be photographed, published, posted online or shown in a portfolio before launch without written approval from Modern Viking.

The amount of work will vary depending on launches, campaign requirements, performance and availability.
Regular content packages and larger commercial campaign projects may be priced separately according to scope, locations, models, equipment and required deliverables.
