Systems & Server Engineer
Denver Technology — Perth, with travel to client sites
Denver Technology is a technology consultancy based in Perth, with offices in Brisbane and London. For 35 years we have worked with energy, resources and asset-intensive organisations across Australia and overseas, fixing infrastructure problems and running projects that hold up in production.
You will work alongside experienced engineers, own your deliverables and deal directly with clients. We back people who do careful work and explain it well.
The role
We want a Systems & Server Engineer with at least five years across medium to large IT environments. You will design, deploy, remediate and support server, cloud and infrastructure solutions for our clients. You will run smaller projects on your own and work with senior engineers on larger programs.
Most of the work is project delivery and consulting: upgrades, migrations, remediation and architecture reviews. You can work onsite or from a Denver office. Travel is minimal and there is no on-call, though deployments sometimes run after hours.
What you'll do
- Configure, deploy, upgrade and test server, cloud and infrastructure solutions.
- Build and support Windows Server (2016 to 2025), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
- Deploy Azure IaaS and SaaS, Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity.
- Administer VMware vSphere and Cisco UCS, including provisioning, capacity planning and host maintenance.
- Support Pure Storage, Commvault or Cohesity backup, disaster recovery, SolarWinds monitoring and patching.
- Support SQL Server (2012 to 2025), failover clustering and hosting services.
- Review existing architecture and recommend improvements, consolidation or remediation.
- Write high-level design, low-level design, implementation, test and handover documentation.
Attend client sites and workshops, and explain technical risk and options to technical and non-technical people.
What you need
- At least five years as a Systems, Server or Infrastructure Engineer.
- An IT qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma, degree) or equivalent experience.
- Strong Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and failover clustering experience.
- Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity experience.
- VMware vSphere and Cisco UCS experience.
- Patching, vulnerability remediation, SolarWinds, and Commvault or Cohesity backup and DR.
- SQL Server (2012 to 2025) support.
Clear writing, with the ability to produce design and handover documentation.
Australian citizen or permanent resident.
Nice to have
- Microsoft certification in Windows Server, Azure, Microsoft 365 or identity.
- PowerShell scripting and repeatable deployment.
- Pure Storage or SAN, and enterprise backup and DR platforms.
- Network fundamentals: firewalls, routing, switching and secure remote access.
- Mining, resources or industrial experience, and exposure to IT/OT or segmented infrastructure.
- Benchmarked salaries, a training and certification budget, an Employee Assistance Programme, an active social club and regular celebrations.
