Experienced Event Installation Team Leader

Abra Events is an event hire, styling and installation company based in Tullamarine.
We’re looking for an experienced Event Installation Team Leader to join our growing team. This is a hands on leadership role for someone with strong event installation experience who can confidently lead a crew onsite, manage installations from start to finish and ensure every event is delivered safely, efficiently and to the high standard Abra Events is known for.
No two events or venues are the same. You’ll need to be confident making decisions, solving problems onsite and keeping the team focused when things don’t go exactly to plan.
About the Role : As an Event Installation Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for leading our crew through event deliveries, installations, styling and pack downs across Melbourne. You’ll be the key point of contact for our team onsite and will also represent Abra Events when dealing with venues, event coordinators, suppliers and other contractors.
We’re looking for someone who can lead by example, someone who is hands on, organised, calm under pressure and willing to jump in and get the job done alongside the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise event installation crews onsite
- Coordinate loading, delivery, installation and pack-down of events
- Ensure the team understands the event plan and installation requirements
- Allocate tasks and keep the crew working efficiently
- Oversee styling, furniture, décor and event installations
- Ensure installations are completed accurately and to Abra Events' standards
- Manage venue bump-in and bump-out schedules
- Communicate professionally with venue staff, event coordinators and suppliers
- Represent Abra Events in a professional and positive manner
- Make practical decisions and solve problems onsite
- Adapt to different venues, access requirements and unexpected challenges
- Ensure equipment is handled, loaded and installed safely
- Monitor the quality and presentation of the finished event
- Lead the team through pack-down and ensure equipment is returned safely
- Communicate any issues or changes back to management
- Maintain a professional, positive and respectful team environment
You’ll be an experienced event professional and natural leader who is confident taking responsibility onsite. We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in event installation, event hire or event production
- Has previous experience leading or supervising a crew
- Is confident taking direction and then directing others
- Has excellent attention to detail and high standards of presentation
- Is creative and has an eye for styling
- Has strong problem solving skills and uses common sense
- Can remain calm and professional under pressure
- Is confident communicating with venues, clients and suppliers
- Is approachable, professional and a strong people person
- Can motivate and work effectively with a team
- Takes ownership and responsibility for getting the job done
- Is physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
- Is reliable, punctual and highly organised
- Can work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Understands that every venue and event is different
- Is available for early mornings, evenings and weekends as required
- Holds a current driver's licence

This role is suited to someone who has already worked in the events industry and understands what it takes to deliver a successful installation onsite. You need to be confident leading a team, but also be prepared to roll up your sleeves and work alongside them.
You’ll need to know when to follow a plan, when to ask questions and when to use your initiative to solve a problem. Most importantly, you’ll be representing Abra Events, so professionalism, communication, presentation and attitude are just as important as your practical skills.
