The Information Services Branch is seeking an APS6 Insider Threat Analyst to support the delivery and ongoing maturity of Treasury’s Insider Threat Program (InTP).
About the role
The role applies a risk-based approach to identify, assess and manage insider threat risks in alignment with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and whole-of-government requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Treasury’s Insider Threat Program.
- Undertake triage, risk assessments and analysis of insider threat referrals, providing advice in line with policy and legislative requirements.
- Conduct monitoring and analysis activities to identify and assess potential insider threats.
- Support case management processes and governance forums, including preparing documentation and implementing agreed actions.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support coordinated and timely threat response activities.
- Contribute to reporting, briefings and submissions, including for PSPF compliance and ONI audit requirements.
- Develop insights from insider threat and security data to support continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure sensitive information is managed in accordance with legislative, policy and ethical requirements.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Strong analytical and judgement skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and assess risk.
- Experience in investigations, intelligence, security or compliance environments.
- Sound knowledge of Commonwealth security policy and legislation, including the PSPF.
- Developed communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide clear, concise advice.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.
- The ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders.
- Understanding of insider threat principles and security risk management practices.
- Relevant qualifications in investigations or insider threat management are desirable.
Eligibility:
- A Top Secret Positive Vetting or Top Secret-Privileged Access security clearance is required.
