About the Role - Build the Future of Our Community
We’re looking for an experienced Project Director to lead our Major Projects team at City of Ryde and deliver a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects valued from $5M to $125M+. This is a key leadership role where you’ll shape how we plan and deliver major infrastructure and public domain projects that make a lasting impact on our community.
In this role, you will leverage your strong technical planning skills and project management expertise to lead the Major Projects team to deliver significant community infrastructure projects, including sports fields, open spaces, stormwater and major road upgrades. These projects are complex in nature, involving structural works and multi‑storey facilities, and will challenge and grow your professional capability.
You will work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, managing key milestones and ensuring successful project delivery that supports the strategic objectives of the City of Ryde and enhances community outcomes.

About You
You will be a highly capable and driven Project Director with proven experience delivering large‑scale infrastructure and complex building projects, coupled with extensive experience leading a high performing team. Your proactive approach, combined with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, will enable you to bring diverse community projects to successful completion.
You will thrive in a complex matrix environment, confidently managing all aspects of project delivery-from planning and design through to construction and handover. Your ability to navigate multiple priorities, influence outcomes, and collaborate across disciplines will be key to bringing projects across the line.
At City of Ryde, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our city through meaningful infrastructure delivery. You’ll join a supportive leadership team and work on projects that truly benefit the community.
In addition, you will also have:
- Proven ability to lead, manage, motivate & develop a multi-disciplinary, technical and high performing based team
- Extensive experience at a senior level in delivering full project life cycle management of major/multi-faceted capital works projects with high public/political visibility, including project costing, quality control, tender compliance and project reporting
- Proven experience in the development and implementation of program and project management standards, policies, systems, controls and reporting arrangements
- Strong relationship management skills and demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships across multi-functional or multi-discipline teams, including external service providers
- Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering or a similar Engineering discipline, Project Management or a related field
- Current NSW Driver’s License
Your commencing annual base salary will be negotiable for the right applicant, dependent on your experience and qualifications within the graded range + Motor Vehicle Allowance $13,500.
