Sunshine Coast Health provides a highly tailored General Surgical Fellowship year designed to align with each fellow's unique interests and educational goals. Our team comprises of 11 general surgeons, each with advanced sub-specialty training or focused clinical interests, organized into five dedicated teams to ensure comprehensive mentorship and diverse care exposure. Fellows also gain valuable experience through rotations in our high-volume Acute Surgical Unit, fostering skill development in managing complex and urgent surgical cases. As well as elective work, opportunities exist for first on-call arrangements, fellow lists at Sunshine Coast University Hospital or Nambour Hospital and scope lists.
Commencing 3rd August 2026, you will provide high quality care for our community, with a focus on collaboratively contributing within a multidisciplinary team. Fellows will require current enrolment in a specialist training program with a recognised college or professional association, and will need to hold Specialist Registration with AHPRA before they are entitled to Senior Registrar.
Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key responsibilities include:
Undertake clinical duties that may include inpatient services, outpatient services, procedural work, multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical correspondence, and on-call duties.
Ensure safe and timely clinical handover with both internal and external clinicians.
Ensure quality of clinical documentation to optimise decision-making and patient safety
Salary rates: $6,687.40 - $7,369.20 p.f., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (L10 - L13) (temporary full-time position, 76 hrs p.f.) for up to 12 months. Applications will remain current for 12 months / or the duration of the vacancy. Applications may be used to appoint to similar vacancies for a period up to 12 months after the closing date of the initial vacancy.
