What you will do as the Content Designer
You will work closely with Senior Content Designers (APS6), the Content Design Manager (EL1) and agency stakeholders to deliver content that meets user needs. You will need to communicate effectively, adapt to changing deadlines and priorities, and perform your duties in line with the APS Values, APS Code of Conduct and the ACCC’s mission and goals.
As the Content Designer, you will:
- Edit, proof and write content for website and digital platforms
- Design and publish content that meets style, accessibility and readability standards, and content design patterns
- Support the management of a busy inbox and action assigned tasks and requests from line areas
- Review, draft and publish content to the ACCC websites and newsletters
- Support senior team members, engage with and influence stakeholders, so that content is accurate and relevant, while being easy to understand
- Follow established processes and systems, and contribute to an effective and collaborative team
About you
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
This role in particular requires certain skills and experience.
- Sound writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Experience and high-level skills in website and digital publishing, using a complex content management system.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently follow content design principles and style guides.
- Solid understanding of WCAG accessibility and readability standards including plain language.
- Ability to suggest and implement user focused solutions for website and digital content.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to troubleshoot and edit in HTML, or the ability to learn the skill.
- Productively and effectively working under pressure, organising and prioritising a demanding workload with competing deadlines.
Certain job specific criteria are also highly desirable.
- A tertiary qualification in communications, professional editing or similar discipline.
- Knowledge in Drupal CMS and newsletter platforms.
- Experience dealing with and responding to a high-volume request-based inbox.
