About the opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a Product Owner of Safety and Injury Management systems position, ensuring they support the organisation's commitment to safety, wellbeing and self-insurance obligations. As part of our People & Culture function, you'll be helping our people deliver for every Australian.
Working as a Product Owner within the People Systems team, reporting to the Head of People Systems, you'll play a pivotal role connecting business stakeholders, technology teams and external vendors to deliver system improvements that enhance compliance, user experience and operational outcomes. Sitting within People & Culture, this role focuses on enabling better people, safety and business outcomes through effective system governance and continuous improvement.
You’ll also
- Own and evolve the Safety & Injury Management Systems roadmap, ensuring priorities align with business strategy, regulatory requirements and self-insurance obligations.
- Provide end-user support and oversee application performance, maintenance and compliance, including troubleshooting, defect resolution, system updates and vendor releases.
- Partner with Safety, Wellbeing, Injury Management, Technology and Vendor teams to translate business needs into prioritised system enhancements and successful delivery outcomes.
- Lead backlog prioritisation, sprint and release planning, testing and change activities to ensure system improvements are delivered effectively and maximise business value.
- Champion data quality, governance and compliance by ensuring systems support accurate reporting, auditability and effective management of safety, injury and rehabilitation processes.
About you

With a strong customer and safety mindset, you can balance strategic thinking with operational delivery, building trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups to drive meaningful outcomes. You bring a continuous improvement focus, strong judgement and the ability to influence without direct authority, helping teams navigate change while maintaining compliance, governance and a positive employee experience.
You’ll also
- Demonstrated experience in product ownership, system administration or platform governance, ideally within safety, injury management, claims or rehabilitation systems.
- Strong knowledge of WHS, workers compensation, injury management and return-to-work processes.
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes across matrixed teams, including business, technology, vendor and shared service partners.
- Experience translating business, compliance and operational requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, test plans and system enhancements.
- Strong capability in system governance, data quality, reporting, workflow design and controls, supported by tertiary qualifications in WHS, HR, Business or a related discipline. Relevant system certifications and professional memberships (such as AIHS or AHRI) will be highly regarded.
