Reporting to the Shift Supervisor of the recently refurbished Tamaki Makaurau/Auckland Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), the Team Leader will oversee the operations and personnel during the allocated shift, whilst maintaining a safe working and healthy work environment for all employees.
About the role:
- Supervision of MRF operators, sorters, and equipment operators.
- Monitor and manage the daily operations of the MRF during the shift.
- Monitoring production processes to ensure that they are being followed correctly.
- Coordinate and schedule work tasks to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure labour numbers are being met each shift.
- Coordinate with managers and HR to initiate recruitment process.
- Supervision of shift staff, and responding to people management queries including performance management, managing absenteeism.
- Identifying training needs, coaching and training staff to upskill.
- Motivate team members and foster a positive work environment.
- Support in achieving targets and maintenance of budget.
- Managing shift hours and OT
- Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancements.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Teams are working to safe working systems and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Ensure proper PPE’s utilised and worn, as well as compliance with Lock Out Tag Out and all safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Report system problems immediately to management so they can be resolved in a timely manner.
About you:
- Available to work over a rotating 24-hour roster, Monday to Friday.
- Ability to perform physical requirements such as, prolonged physical exertions including, standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or MRF operations is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot MRF equipment.
- Proficiency in computer applications for reporting and documentation.
- Flexibility to work weekends or overtime as needed.
