About the role
Cutri Fruit requires a Production Horticulture Supervisor, this position involves supervising the cultivation, growing and maintenance of our stonefruit crops and assisting in managing of all of the associated production processes.
This position is full-time, and may be required to work shifts, including weekends.
This position reports to the Farm Manager.
- Ensure scheduled crops for intended harvest have passed the withholding period
- Ensure that all specialised harvest equipment is maintained
- Ensure correct harvest to suit conditions of crop, soil moisture and variety to minimize any mechanical damage
- Liaise with GM Orchards / Shed Production Manager / Maintenance Supervisor
- Ensure quality of harvest throughout harvest period to minimize damage.
- Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs
- Transport and store chemicals
- Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases
- Implement a post-harvest program
- Establish horticultural crops
- Carry out emergency disease or plant pest control procedures at infected premises
- Operate chemical application machinery and equipment
- Coordinate work site activities
- Perform shed nursery activities
- Regulate crops
- Carrying out instructions and attending to all ancillary farming activities as directed by Management;
- Ensuring a safe fruit farm working environment
Skills / Experience required (key competencies, must haves):
- A proven record of skills and knowledge in agriculture/horticulture;
- Have considerable experience, fundamental knowledge and skills in farm operation;
- Trustworthy person who can be relied upon;
- Able to analyse and solve problems
- Be a responsible person who can work in a team environment;
- Enthusiastic, professional attitude and understanding of the objectives of the business
Skill Level:
- At least Cert III or IV or equivalent OR 3 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with relevant formal training OR 5 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with no formal training
Salary being offered is between $68,864 - $80,000 dependent on experience.
