Contracts Officer
Join our Procurement team and play a key role in delivering value-for-money outcomes for Council through effective tendering and contract management.
Mackay Regional Council is looking for two Contracts Officers to join our team.
As a Contracts Officer, you will support and manage Council’s tendering and contract processes from end to end. You’ll provide expert advice to stakeholders, ensure compliance with procurement policies and legislation, and help mitigate risk across contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage tender processes, including evaluation and documentation
- Provide advice on contract administration and procurement policies
- Assist with contract negotiations and statements of departures
- Support tender price negotiations to achieve value-for-money outcomes
- Prepare tender recommendations and reports
- Maintain contract data and systems accuracy
- Deliver support and training on contract management systems
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and legislative requirements
About You
Essential
- Certificate III in Business
- Experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of tendering processes
- Knowledge of contract management, administration, and risk management
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Well-developed organisational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Qualifications in legal, contractual or related disciplines
- Experience in local government or construction procurement
- Experience using financial or purchasing systems (e.g. SAP, Finance One)
- Understanding of local government procurement policies and procedures
