We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Trades Assistant to join our workshop team at Western Sydney Airport.
Working alongside experienced technicians, you will assist with the servicing, maintenance, repair and preparation of aviation ground support equipment (GSE). This includes baggage-handling equipment, cargo loaders, aircraft servicing equipment and towing equipment.
This position is ideal for someone with practical mechanical experience who enjoys hands-on work and wants to develop their skills in a specialised aviation equipment environment. For the right person, it offers a pathway into Service Technician and Field Service roles.
Due to operational requirements at the Aiport the Western Sydney team work 365 days a year. As such this role operates on a 4 days on 4 days off roster from 6am to 6pm.
Assist technicians with scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairs
Perform basic mechanical servicing and preventative maintenance tasks
Support fault-finding, component replacement and equipment repairs
Prepare equipment for inspection, delivery and customer handover
Conduct basic equipment inspections and complete service documentation
Safely operate hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment
Keep equipment, tools and workshop areas clean and well maintained
Support workshop and field-service activities when required
Follow all workplace health, safety and airport security requirements
You will be mechanically minded, dependable and willing to learn. You will also have:
At least one year of professional mechanical or workshop experience
Experience using hand and power tools
Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
The ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
A positive attitude and good communication skills
A strong commitment to workplace safety
Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, Workshop Assistant, Mechanical Labourer or in a similar hands-on role will be highly regarded.
Australian citizenship due to site access and security requirements
Current driver’s licence
Ability to meet airport security and background-check requirements
Willingness to undertake drug and alcohol testing as required
A current forklift licence is desirable but not essential.
