Provide efficient reliable advice and support to the Manager Work, Health and Safety to ensure Council has a professional Work Health and Safety portfolio. Lead by example and maintain a positive work health and safety culture with a focus on continual improvement.
Employment Status: Full Time, Limited Tenure to 25 June 2027 – 72.50 hours per fortnight
Award: Level 4 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017
Salary Range: $90,418.00 gross per annum
The successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrable experience in a health and safety or related role.
- Working knowledge of WHS practices and relevant WHS legislation.
- Clear understanding of WHS legislation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent computer proficiency in word processing, spread sheets and experience with WHS management systems.
- High level of written and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and well organised.
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or ability to obtain.
- Construction Induction (CPCCWHS1001) or ability to obtain.
- Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator (RRTWC0) accreditation or ability to obtain.
- Fire Safety Advisor accreditation or ability to obtain.
- Possession and maintenance of a current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence.

- Ability to work in a shared office setting, which involves prolonged sitting or standing at a desk and operating a computer and telephone.
- Ability to carry out light manual handling, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting.
- This role will require periodic field visits and may require the occasional early morning start as determined from time to time to meet business requirements.
