About the Role
As the After-Hours Theatre Floor Manager, you will:
- Oversee the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
- Act as the first point of contact for clinical and operational escalations.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless surgical services and optimal theatre utilisation.
- Support the broader Nurse Unit Management team to maintain operational continuity and patient flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and operational support to theatre staff, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning.
- Coordinate surgical schedules, patient preparation, post-operative care, patient flow, and emergency cases.
- Act as the escalation point for clinical and administrative issues while collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists, and support teams.
- Manage staffing and shift allocation, mentor nursing staff, and provide guidance and performance feedback.
- Promote a safe and compliant workplace while overseeing accurate patient records, documentation, incident reporting, and adherence to hospital policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Current AHPRA Registered Nurse registration with at least 4 years of perioperative clinical experience and demonstrated leadership skills.
- Advanced knowledge of perioperative standards, clinical governance, and safety protocols.
- Proven ability to coordinate theatre operations, manage resources, and effectively balance competing priorities.
- Availability to work a rotating after-hours roster.
- Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and support multidisciplinary teams.
- Completion of Team Leader Workshop or willing to attend.
- Interest in or working towards postgraduate qualifications in Perioperative Nursing.
