We are seeking a reliable and caring Kitchen Hand to join our Catering Team for afternoon shifts at our Ashmore facility.
In this role, you’ll support our Catering Manager and Chef to deliver safe, nutritious, and well-presented meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences. Your work will directly support residents’ wellbeing, comfort, and dignity every day.
- Assist with food preparation, portioning, and plating for resident meals
- Maintain a high standard of kitchen cleanliness, sanitising, and dishwashing
- Follow safe food handling practices in line with Food Safety Standards and HACCP principles
- Support catering requirements for resident functions and special events
- Collaborate with care and nursing staff to support individual dietary needs
- Follow Infection Prevention and Control procedures at all times
- Comply with organisational policies, WHS requirements, and relevant legislation
You’re a dependable team player who takes pride in a clean, safe, and well-run kitchen environment — and understands the importance of food and routine in aged care.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or hospitality environment (aged care highly regarded)
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Awareness of infection prevention and safe work practices
- A positive attitude, strong communication, and a cooperative team approach
- Reliability, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to resident care
- Ability to follow direction and work safely under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld)
- Previous kitchen or catering experience (required)
- Understanding of food safety obligations under the Food Act 2006 (Qld)
- Current National Police Check (mandatory for aged care under the Aged Care Act 1997)
- Certificate III in Hospitality or Aged Care (desirable)
- Current First Aid/CPR (desirable)
Shift times: 1500–1900 – 5 days a week available
