How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
-
Design, analyse, and verify mechanical, structural and thermal systems to meet allocated requirements, prioritising mass optimisation and manufacturability.
- Utilize the full spectrum of the design, analysis, test, and manufacturing tools to create efficient structures and components.
- Ownership of product delivery timeline through conception, design, assembly, and qualification.
- Develop test plans for parts through development, qualification, and acceptance testing.
- Review specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts.
- Analyse and interpret data collected during testing leading to correlation of representative mathematical models.
- Ability to problem solve and understand complex problems; incumbent must be able to resolve situations that demand solutions.
- Other duties as requested by Management.
Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience with mechanical or structural design (dynamics) and analysis in a professional setting (excluding internships).
- 5+ years experience with CAD, designing parts and assemblies.
- 5+ years experience with at least one commercial FEA or Multiphysics simulation package.
- 5+ years hands-on hardware experience associated with fabrication, assembly, integration and/or testing.
Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:-
Experience with the management of large CAD assembly models
- Solid understanding and application of GD&T
- Demonstrated understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of complex mechanical systems in high vibration environments
- Demonstrated understanding of precision mechanical engineering such as repeatable mounting
- Demonstrated understanding of structures with respect to thermo-elastic distortion
- Demonstrated understanding of thermal heat transfer in a vacuum environment
- Analytical/scientific programming experience (NASTRAN, Ansys, Python, Matlab, Excel, etc).
- Eligibility to obtain a NV1 Security Clearance.
Teamwork / Leadership / Interpersonal:
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work well in an integrated team including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers.
- Self-motivated with strong multi-tasking, organizational, communication and documentation skills.
- Proven Ability to prioritize and manage work demands and deliver outcomes
- Self-motivated, results oriented with a high level of attention to detail
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety, quality assurance, continuous improvement, and environmental management
