Details: The Health Policy and Programs Division is responsible for providing advice to the Minister for Health and the ACT Government to meet the health needs of the community. We do this by contributing to the creation of policy settings that ensure the right care can be accessed in the right place, in the right way, at the right time, and that people are better able to care for themselves.
This includes but is not limited to, the provision of strategic health policy advice, project development and implementation, procurement of non-government services, and liaison with government, non-government, and private sector stakeholders.
The Mental Health branch provides leadership of the Territory’s mental health system by setting policy direction, funding services, and coordinating programs. It works in partnership with hospitals and clinical services, community organisations, research institutions, and the Commonwealth to ensure a cohesive, effective and evidence‑based approach to supporting mental health and preventing suicide across the ACT.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the ability to build and sustain strong relationships, provide strategic leadership, and manage complex policy and program matters. You will bring a strong commitment to advancing mental health services and suicide prevention initiatives, along with the capacity to guide teams and stakeholders towards shared goals. High-level communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to navigate ambiguity will be essential.

Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $296,877 - $306,035 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $261,668.
Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based long-term contract for a period of up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
