About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Dairy Cattle Farm Operator to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will assist with the day-to-day operation of the dairy farm, including milking activities, monitoring dairy equipment and machinery, recording production information and supporting the safe and efficient running of farm operations.
This role is suited to someone with practical dairy farming experience who is comfortable working with livestock, dairy equipment and farm machinery as part of a hands-on farming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate milking equipment and dairy plant safely and efficiently as part of daily milking routines.
- Monitor dairy equipment and machinery and identify or report faults, maintenance issues or irregular operation.
- Read, monitor and accurately record relevant production information, including milk vat temperatures, livestock numbers and other farm records.
- Assist with the safe handling and movement of dairy cattle during routine farm and milking activities.
- Operate farm machinery and equipment as required to support daily dairy farming operations.
- Complete general dairy farm duties while maintaining appropriate quality and productivity standards.
- Follow established workplace health and safety procedures when working with livestock, machinery and dairy equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment around the dairy, yards and associated farm areas.
- Work cooperatively with other farm staff to complete daily operational requirements and respond to changing farm priorities.
- Report equipment, livestock or operational issues promptly and assist with routine farm maintenance where required.
Skills and Experience Required
- An AQF Certificate II or III in Agriculture or a relevant field, or an equivalent qualification; or at least one year of recent and relevant dairy farming experience in lieu of a formal qualification.
- Previous practical experience working in a dairy farm environment is highly regarded.
- Experience operating milking equipment, farm machinery and other dairy-related equipment.
- Confidence working safely around dairy cattle and livestock.
- Ability to follow workplace health and safety procedures and established farm practices.
- Ability to accurately record basic production and operational information.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, physically capable and comfortable undertaking hands-on farm duties.
