The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Manager, Business Services, to provide a critical role within Metropolitan Remand Centre.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's prison system and Post Sentence Scheme. As a service agency within the Department of Justice & Community Safety (DJCS), Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Reporting to the Prison Services Manager, the Manager, Business Services is responsible for leading and managing a team in the effective delivery and provide advice on a range of financial, accounting, budget, procurement and administrative and business services for the Metropolitan Remand Centre. This position will also monitor the financial performance and oversee and undertake financial reconciliation, reporting and analysis, including preparation of monthly and ad hoc reports for the Metropolitan Remand Centre.
About the Role
The Manager, Business Services leads a team responsible for providing services to support the prison's key finance, stores, procurement, and infrastructure and technology functions. The position will monitor the financial performance of the Metropolitan Remand Centre and undertake financial reconciliation, reporting and analysis, including preparation of monthly reporting and adhoc reports.
This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve occasional weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
Some of your duties will include:

Plan and manage the quality delivery of financial and stores services to the Metropolitan Remand Centre to meet agreed corporate and program objectives, service delivery standards and timelines, specified budgetary outcomes, stakeholder expectations and location needs.

Undertake ongoing financial reconciliation, reporting and analysis including preparation of monthly budget variance reports and forecasts and ad-hoc reports as required.

Monitor and report on the prison's procurement processes and spend to ensure compliance with relevant DJCS and Corrections Victoria regulations and guidelines.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated experience in government finance, and an excellent knowledge of the application of government accounting and financial legislation, policies, and processes, preferably within a state government environment (or similar).

Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the application of the Oracle Financial System.
Qualifications

A qualification in Commerce or Accounting and/or commensurate experience is desirable
