As part of our VTS business, our PRV team is primarily focused on the design, manufacture, delivery and support of protected mobility vehicles on a global scale. We have an excellent opportunity to join us as Obsolescence Technician. This role can be based in Eagle Farm, Brisbane or at the Bendigo Site. The Obsolescence Technician will provide proactive and technical support in limiting the effect that component and documentation obsolescence has on the production of new vehicles and sustainment of current fleets.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Proactive obsolescence management via notifications, perform analysis and prepare summaries for review.
Conduct life cycle tracking, monitoring inventory and bill of materials to forecast when parts will no longer be manufactured or supported.
Perform fit, form, functional assessments - including assessments for alternative sourcing and current design implications to identify potential solution pathways.
Evaluate and document how the identified obsolescence affects the support system and availability, initiating engineering change requests, ensuring solution options comply with regulatory, safety and environmental requirements.
Engage with customers to understand their needs, gather feedback, and ensure solutions align with operational requirements.
Engage with internal stakeholders to obtain, collate and synthesise data inputs for informed decision making such as lifetime buy assessments and cost analysis mitigation options.
YOUR EXPERIENCE:
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and a quality mindset.
Ability to manage time, priorities, and adapt effectively in a dynamic environment.
Effective communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, educate, and influence stakeholders.
Experience with issue management systems (e.g., Jira), document management, and workflow tools.
Eligibility for Defence Security Clearance and ability to obtain ITAR clearance.
Working knowledge of Defence industry processes is advantageous.
Relevant technical or trade qualification (e.g., electronics, mechanical, or equivalent experience).
