Disability Support Worker – Paediatric High Intensity Care | Redland Bay QLD
SEEK Summary Points
- Support a young boy with cerebral palsy
- Before and after school shifts, Redland Bay
- NGT feeding and seizure experience essential
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Disability Support Worker to join a small, consistent team supporting a young boy with cerebral palsy in Redland Bay.
He attends school a few days a week, and we need reliable workers for before and after school shifts getting his morning routine, feeds, and school prep done calmly and well, then supporting him through the afternoon and evening when he's home.
This is skilled work with a set routine and a child at the centre of it. He relies on NGT feeding and needs a worker who is confident with seizure monitoring and response. You will know his plan, know the signs, and know exactly what to do.
You won't start unprepared. Before your first shift, you will complete participant-specific training and competency assessment delivered by our Registered Nurses, in line with the NDIS High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supports in line with his Complex Care Plan, including:
- NGT feeding and enteral nutrition support
- Seizure monitoring and response, following his epilepsy management plan
- Support morning and after-school routines — personal care, dressing, meals, and school readiness
- Safe manual handling, transfers, positioning, and pressure care
- Medication assistance as per his care plan
- Monitor for any changes and escalate promptly to our nursing team
- Keep accurate, timely shift records
- Bring warmth and consistency — he does best with familiar faces and a predictable routine
Skills & Experience
You must hold (or be eligible for):
- Blue Card (Working with Children Check – QLD)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card)
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
You'll also bring:
- Demonstrated high intensity support experience — NGT feeding experience is essential
- Confident, calm seizure management experience
- Experience supporting children, ideally with cerebral palsy or complex physical disability
- Reliability — before-school shifts mean early starts, and his family depends on you turning up
- Genuine respect for his dignity, his family's role, and how they want things done in their home
- A current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
Benefits & Culture
- Competitive hourly rates
- Regular, predictable shifts: consistent before and after school roster — ideal if you're balancing study, family, or another role
- Paid, participant-specific training
- Real clinical support: RN oversight and clear escalation pathways
- Small, stable team: we roster a consistent team around him so you can build a real relationship, not just fill shifts
We are a nurse-led NDIS provider supporting participants across Logan, Ipswich, Redland. Brisbane, and surrounds. Our model is built on doing complex care properly trained workers, and supports that focus on what the participant actually wants and needs.
Pay: $40.00 – $45.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
